Scouting Units and Activities

BCC Chapter Scouting Activities

The Bethesda-Chevy Chase Chapter sponsors five scouting units, three Boy Scout units and two Girl Scout  These units receive financial, logistical, and educational support from the B-CC chapter, and the chapter holds the organizational charters for each unit from the respective governing body: the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) / Girl Scouts of America (GSA).

The unit leaders may or may not be directly members of the Chapter, but the units ar managed by adult parent-leaders from the units themselves.

The scout unit leaders are listed below.  As unit leadership changes, this list will be updated.

BSA Merit Badges

Each year the Chapter has sponsored an Archery, Rifle or Shotgun Merit badge day the last Saturday of March.  This event makes use of the Chapter ranges and a large number of chapter volunteers to provide instruction.  The rifle and shotgun range are supervised by NRA certified instructors and the archery range is supervised by a BSA certified instructor.  Registration occurs during February and March before the merit badge day on the ranges.  Rob Parker is the scouting event organizer for the B-CC Chapter.

BSA Eagle Projects

The B-CC Chapter has sponsored Troop 496 since 1985.  Troop 496 has just had its 72nd Scout complete his Eagle rank.   Many scouts from other BSA troops implement their Eagle Projects throughout the Chapter conservation farm, especially the campground and hiking trails.  Many chapter members are involved with supporting scout activities.   Rob Parker and John Lamb may be able to connect interested scouts with potential Eagle Projects.
