Christmas Bird Counts

Christmas Bird Counts

The Christmas Bird Counts occur annually in locations all over the country during the period between December 14th & January 5th. Each year, tens of thousands of volunteers go out for a day on an annual mission to count all the birds seen within designated 15-mile circles.

The 15-mile circle that includes the B-CC IWLA Conservation Farm is Sector 7 of the Seneca Christmas Bird Count (CBC).

The Montgomery County Bird Club (MCBC) visits our Chapterhouse every year for warmth, coffee and donuts one Saturday morning during this annual period to perform a census on bird species.

Other local Maryland Christmas Bird Count locations include:

  • Tridelphia Reservoir
  • Seneca
  • Central Loudoun
  • Sugarloaf Mountain
